ABSTRACT

LIVER DISEASE

Central nervous system disorders:Liver disease is an immune response triggered by a specific viral infection. It can be the result of a virus infection, such as the Epstein-Barr virus, or the herpes simplex virus. A causal connection between hepatitis C and liver disease is not well established.

If you have a hepatitis C virus infection and are taking lopinavir and ritonavir (Norvir), your liver function may be at risk. If you have hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, your liver function may be at risk. Your liver function may be affected by alcohol consumption.

Liver function tests are not recommended for people with liver disease.

Other conditions:

Although the hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a highly contagious virus, it may spread to other parts of the body and may not be detected until 24 hours after the initial infection. The virus can persist even after you stop taking the drug.

Other hepatitis C virus tests may be negative if you have been taking a drug or taking a class of drugs called antivirals. It is important to tell your healthcare provider about all of your current medications, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Some medicines can affect how we test for hepatitis C, so tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any of the following:

  • Amlodipine
  • Amlodipine Hydrochloride
  • Amlodipine Sodium
  • Amlodipine XR
